Pre Wedding Trials - What happens?

Trial season is well under way in the land of City Brides. We highly recommend pre wedding trials for all our lovely brides. As our second blog post we thought we would share some information with you on what happens at your trial and the benefits they bring.

Trials are an excellent opportunity to meet your makeup artist &/or hairdresser, have a chat about your preferred styling, get to know each other and get an idea of how your styling is going to look.

The first thing we do at our trials is sit down and have a chat about your big day. When looking at timings we look at the preparation address & the distance to venue, photographer's requirements, (are they needing you beforehand for certain shots?) and of course the bridal party numbers on the big day. We then work backwards to give you a wedding day start time always leaving ample time to get you all ready whilst having a nice relaxing wedding morning!

We always ask our brides to bring along pictures of styles and looks they like and dont like to their trial. This enables their artist to get a good idea of the overall look you are after on the big day and also what we should stay away from. We ask you to bring images of your dress, your bridesmaid dresses and flowers so that we can see the exact colours and themes. Try and chose pictures with the same hair colour as you, these give you the best idea. Also where possible try and and keep and open mind. Like wedding dress shopping, often what you envisage may not necessarily be best final look for you so be willing to try different looks and styles until you and your artist find the look that suits you best.

We then prep your hair and makeup and create your wedding day look taking into account any allergies or issues you feel we need to be aware of.

All the way through your trial we fully consult with our clients ensuring nothing is a surprise and making you feel confident in the look we are creating. Our Pro Artists take thorough notes and photographs documenting the process in detail for your file enabling it to be recreated accurately on the wedding morning!

If you have a headpiece and veil its always handy to take these along to your trial however we have a large stock of these in our studio so can always help in this area if you are undecided.

Not able to make a trial - this is ok too, just ensure you have plenty pictures to hand and allow extra time on the big day so your artist can do your consultation on the wedding morning.

Finally please remember trials are an exciting part of the run up to your wedding day! Bring a friend or your mum along and enjoy every moment as its one step closer to the wedding!!
